EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SURVEYS

What is Engagement

Most of us have heard about Employee Satisfaction and surveys measuring the satisfaction. So what then Employee Engagement is? And why it is important for a business to know and improve Engagement levels of their teams?

An employee can be satisfied with a job without being engaged in the job. Employee engagement is much more than being satisfied with pay and working conditions. Engagement means being involved in and enthusiastic about your work in a way that results in better performance.

Why is it important

Researches show that there is direct correlation between Employee Engagement and business performance. Companies who's employees engagement is high (top quartile companies versus bottom quartile) realize substantially better customer engagement, higher productivity, better retention, fewer accidents, and 21% higher profitability. Engaged workers also report better health outcomes (according Gallup, Employee Engagement trends, 2018).

Gallup Q12 methodology

Gallup, who is one of glob's leading analytics and advice firm, in their research has identified 12 questions (Q12), that measure employee engagement and powerfully link to relevant business outcomes. Gallup has defined that an engaged employee is one who truly understands where the company is heading, believes in the direction, knows what it means and what is required personally, does what is needed to make it happen and thoroughly enjoys the journey. It is one of the simplest and most powerful methodologies to increase your employee engagement and hence also business performance levels. One of key advantages of Gallup survey is that it allows to see engagement levels by each team (to ensure confidentiality of survey results, there should be at least 4 participants from a team in order to get a separate report).
